From the Heart of Armenia
to the Heart of Colorado
A family's journey of 13+ years, bringing authentic Armenian flavors to a state that never had them.
When Lucy Zakaryan opened L Cafe in February 2025, she didn't just open a restaurant — she brought an entire culinary tradition to Colorado for the first time. The “L” stands for Lucy, and every dish carries the personal touch of a woman who has spent over 13 years perfecting Armenian recipes passed down through generations.
This is a family affair. Her son Jon works the kitchen, crafting kebabs and shawarma with organic, never-frozen ingredients. Her daughter-in-law Milena greets every customer at the counter with warmth that makes strangers feel like old friends.
Lucy herself makes the drive to Los Angeles to source authentic lavash bread from Glendale's Armenian community — because some things simply cannot be compromised. The basturma is cured in-house using traditional spice methods. The coffee is brewed in long-handled pots, the way it's been done for centuries.
